Ash Gillon: Back home now and more on the budget fallout. Estimates from last week’s budget showing a potential cost blowout for the childcare sector’s subsidies as the industry balloons. Joining us live with more is the Shadow Childcare Minister, the Liberal Senator, Matt O’Sullivan. Senator, good to see you. Thanks for your time. For once, childcare wasn’t really front and centre of this budget. We…
The Budget papers reveal a massive cost blowout in Child Care Subsidy spending, projected to hit $21.09 billion by 2029-30. Labor continues to pour billions into a rigid, one-size-fits-all model while ignoring the real pressures facing parents and providers. Families are paying more, struggling to find care, particularly in regional and rural areas, and increasingly…

Former prime minister John Howard said that a strong family is the greatest social welfare system that mankind has ever devised. This is not just a philosophical worldview. Safe, stable and responsive…

I move: That, in the opinion of the Senate, the following is a matter of urgency: The Albanese Government’s failure to ensure Australia’s sovereign capability in the supply of fertiliser, placing Australian agriculture, the resources sector and national food security at serious risk. Just weeks after the US-Israel strikes on Iran, the Albanese government has…
Two weeks ago, when we were last here, the opposition was accused of spreading misinformation about an impending fuel shortage crisis. Australian eyes do not lie; they have seen fuel shortages across the country. Following our call to action, the Prime Minister convened National Cabinet and declared that it is a different world. But it’s…
